Paper Pumpkins
I just wanted to share these super easy pumpkins with my crafty (and not so crafty) friends. They are really easy and inexpensive to make.
You can make these any size you want. I cut pieces 1" x 6"... 14 pieces in total. I put a knot in the end of embroidery floss and put it through one end of the paper strips. Then I put the same floss through the other side of the strips. I pushed all of the strips down so they bowed out, and then made a knot at the top. I added a bow to finish it, with a rolled piece of card stock for the stem. Fun and easy!

Jae and The Atomic Green Blasters
Today was Jae's first soccer game and she did awesome...she almost scored a goal.
I have to say that I was a little nervous before the game started. Last week at practice her team was scrimmaging and a boy was dribbling the ball. Her coaches were yelling, "Get him! Get him!" Apparently she thought that meant tackle him. She grabbed him by the shirt and brought him down to the ground and tumbled down with him. Oops!
I was so proud of her today. She did such a good job and she had so much fun. She kept telling everyone that she played a "real soccer game."

Kindergarten here we come...
Yesterday was Jae's first day of Kindergarten. She did so good. She was so confident and so ready. On the way to school she said, "You know, I'm not even nervous to go to school." I wanted to tell her that I was nervous for her but instead I told her that I was glad and that I was excited for her. She is going to a Spanish Immersion school so her teacher only speaks Spanish to the kids. I am so thankful that she loves school and wants to be there. She loves her teacher and was very happy to see some of her friends from preschool.

cami's the cutest
last weekend jc and i got to see cami...and jen, too! jc loves little kids. he loves to hug them. and kiss them. we met up at starbucks and had yummy treats and then we went to a super cute park in del mar. at the end of our playtime, we told the kids to give hugs and kisses and say good-bye. well, cami is an open mouth kisser and jc wasn't so ready for that. he thought that she was going to bite him but when he kissed her the second time he opened his mouth too (don't tell her daddy. i hear he is mean!). jen and i were laughing so hard. i wish that we lived closer so that the two of them could play together more often.

Another Jae Moment...
Jae cracks me up and she doesn't even try. On the way home from church tonight there was a nasty car accident so we had to turn around and go home a different way. This is how the conversation went:
Jae: Mommy what are all of those twinkly lights?
Me: They are fire trucks, ambulances and police cars because there was an accident.
Jae: Oh.
Silence...
Jae: Mommy, what's an accident?
Me: It's when 2 cars crash into each other.
Jae: Well, it's when you pee in your pants, too.
Me: Yep Jae, you're right.
Oh how I love these little conversations. She makes me smile all the time :)

A Funny Jae Story
This morning Jae and JC were playing with some bracelets. They were playing nicely when Jae asked JC to watch her. It was quiet for a minute and then she got really frustrated...
Jae: Uggg...God didn't do what I said!
Mommy: What's wrong Jae?
Jae: I asked God to make these bracelets disappear and then come back again and he didn't listen.
Daddy: Jae that's not how it works...
She cracks me up :)

slurpees, hot dogs, smores and potty training
today was my first day of summer...wahoo! i love being a teacher. the weather has been cold and overcast, but the sun finally came out this afternoon.
tonight we went to my mom's house for a little backyard dinner. lance brought slurpees for the kids and everyone cooked their own hot dog. the kids had fun playing in the backyard and looking at and eating the veggies from mimaw's garden. after dinner we made smores, which is jae's favorite part. jc gets excited about the chocawet (chocolate) and usually makes a huge mess :)
we are potty training jc so we have been home all day. it was nice to get out of the house and spend time with family.

Padres Game
We had been talking about taking the kids to a game forever and we finally found a night that worked. We planned on buying Park in the Park tickets, but they weren't available when we go there. So we bought some nose bleed seats and sat in them for a half of an inning and ended up going to the Park. The kids had an awesome time. They were giving gloves to all the little munchkins so Jae and JC ended up playing catch for most of the evening.
